President

David Onder is the Director of Institutional Excellence, Research, and Grants and SACSCOC Liaison at Haywood Community College. He most recently guided his institution to a successful SACSCOC reaffirmation and spends his days developing a data system and helping with assessment. Past positions include over 9 years at Western Carolina University as Director of Assessment and also Business Intelligence Analyst. He holds a M.A.Ed. in Comprehensive Education – Secondary Mathematics from Western Carolina University and a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Youngstown State University. He has been a member of CCPRO since 2016.

President Elect

Carol Ann is the Director of Planning, Research and Institutional Effectiveness at Blue Ridge Community College.  She leads the College in its strategic planning processes, action planning, and the assessment of academic and student support units.  She is also heavily involved in all things SACSCOC.  Carol Ann has worked at Blue Ridge for twelve years and prior to that was a tutor and substitute teacher at Carolina Day School in Asheville, N.C.  She holds a Masters in Educational Research from the University of South Carolina.

Anne is the Executive Director of Research and Planning at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. From 2012-2020, she was the Director of Institutional Assessment and Accreditation for Isothermal Community College. She has led strategic planning, institutional effectiveness processes, and institutional research duties. Anne has served as a Liaison with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC).  Before coming to Isothermal Community College, she worked for Montreat College as the Writing Program director, serving as both an English Composition instructor and the director of the college’s Quality Enhancement Plan.  Anne holds dual Master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina System: a Master’s in Higher Education Administration, emphasis on the Adult Learner, from Appalachian State University; and a Master’s in English Composition and Rhetoric from Western Carolina University.

Meghan Nevil is the Institutional Assessment Coordinator at Isothermal Community College. Past positions include Research and Grants Analyst at Haywood Community College. She has assisted with two SACSCOC on-site visits and is currently helping put together a fifth-year interim report. She holds an AAS degree in Business Administration and is enrolled at NC A&T State University, pursuing a BS in Business Education. She has been a CCPRO member since 2018.

Amy Gustavson is Assistant Director of Institutional Effectiveness & QEP at Central Carolina Community College.  Past positions include Reference, Instruction, & Emerging Technologies Librarian at Central Carolina Community College and Coordinator of Instructional Services at East Carolina University.  She has served on QEP Teams at CCCC and ECU.  She holds a Masters in Library Science from North Carolina Central University and a BA degree in Arts Applications from North Carolina State University.  She has been a CCPRO member since 2015.

Andrew Walker is the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and SACSCOC Liaison at Wilson Community College.  Past positions include Research Analysis, Director of Career and Academic Planning at Pitt CC, and Director of Planning, Research, and Assessment at James Sprunt CC.  He holds a B.S. in Psychology from Penn State and a M.S. in Research Administration from Central Michigan University.  He has been a CCPRO Member since 2008 and served as the Eastern Region Director and Secretary.

Western Region Director

Laura Bowen is the Dean of Planning and IE at Cleveland Community College in Shelby. A product of CCC, Laura is committed to the College mission and has worked there for 20 years. Laura was a non-traditional student who returned to college at 27, and can relate to the obstacles community college students encounter. When she began working at CCC as the Print Shop Technician, she was pursuing her Associate in Arts degree as a part-time student. Throughout her time at the College, Laura assumed various roles as Accounts Payable Technician, Financial Aid Coordinator, Director of Planning and IE, then Dean of Planning and IE in 2015. During that time, she went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Gardner-Webb University, a Master of Arts in Higher Education from Appalachian State University, and her Doctorate in Adult and Community College Education from North Carolina State University, where she is currently completing the North Carolina Executive Leadership Fellows program.

Kelly D. Smith is a Senior Research Analyst in the Office of Planning and Research at Central Piedmont Community College.  Past positions have included Adjunct Instructor with Central Piedmont and Wingate University, and over 10 years as a secondary science teacher in North Carolina. Kelly holds a MS in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a MS in Forensic Science from The George Washington University, an Ed.D in Adult and Community College Education from North Carolina State University, and is completing a graduate certificate in Gender, Leadership, and Public Policy at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

Eastern Region Director

Dr. Michael Cobb is the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Research at Cape Fear Community College.  Prior to working at Cape Fear Community College, he worked as the Director of Planning and Research at Brunswick Community College.  He holds M.A. in Pastoral Theology from the Pontificia Università San Tommaso D’Aquino (Rome, Italy), a M.Div. in Fundamental Theology from the Pontificia Università Gregoriana (Rome, Italy), and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.  He has been a CCPRO member since 2015, and he has served on the Executive Committee as Secretary and now as the Eastern Region Director.

Chihoko Terry is the Director of Institutional Research at Richmond Community College.  Prior to the current position, she worked for South Piedmont Community College as the Data Coordinator.  She holds a B.S. in Geography from Nihon University, Tokyo, Japan and a M.S. in Business Analytics from University of North Carolina Wilmington.  She has been a CCPRO member since 2006.
